Safeguarding adults means protecting the health and wellbeing of adults at risk, enabling them to live safely, free from abuse and neglect.
An 'adult at risk' is someone who may be in need of help because they have care and support needs. See also:

The NHS Safeguarding app is a comprehensive resource for healthcare professionals, carers and citizens. It provides 24-hour, mobile access on up to date legislation and guidance. It also offers information on how to report a safeguarding concern and has a directory of safeguarding contacts for every local authority in England, searchable by region. Download the app via the NHS website.
