Mental health support for children, young people and their families

NCL ICB has created an information sheet which outlines the mental health and wellbeing support available to CYP and their families living in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. It lists a number of local services and how to access them, such as the 24/7 mental health crisis support line, as well as links to online support services.

The information sheet is also available in a wide range of languages, including an Easy Read version. The sheets can be found in the Mental health support tab of the Information hub on the NCL ICS website.

Disordered eating in children and young people

Healthy London Partnership released comprehensive guidance in September 2022 to support health and care professionals to better meet the needs of young people with disordered eating who do not have a diagnosable eating disorder, such as anorexia or avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), but who might have other mental health difficulties and psychosocial challenges.

Area specific guidance for Islington

From 30 September 2019, it has been possible for Islington GPs to refer all social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) CYP referrals to a central point of access that sits within the Children’s Services Contact Team (CSCT) at Islington Council.

All referrals to the SEMH service will first receive safeguarding screening by the CSCT. The multi-agency intake team will find the most appropriate service for the individual, as long as they have a school, home or GP in Islington.

For services included, see the SEMH service page.
