Community pharmacies offer a range of services which patients can self refer to (or be referred to by their GP for Pharmacy First Community Pharmacy Consultation Service).

Essential services offered by all pharmacies include:

• dispensing medication
• over the counter medication purchase
• disposal of unwanted medications
• discharge medicines service

The North Central London Self-care Medicines scheme is a locally commissioned service also available at participating pharmacies for people on low incomes who struggle to afford basic medicines.
