Community pharmacies offer a range of services which patients can self refer to (or be referred to by their GP for Pharmacy First Community Pharmacy Consultation Service).

Essential services offered by all pharmacies include:

• Medication dispensing
• Over the counter medication purchase
• Disposal of unwanted medications
• Hospital discharge medications service

There is also a Self-care Medicines scheme for eligible people on low income.
