A single point of access telephone line has been introduced by North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) for use by patients with sickle cell disease and thalassaemia, as well as their GPs. This line is managed by specialists in haematology who can give advice about the best place for the patient to be seen, including the Red Cell Emergency Department bypass unit.

Located at NMUH, the service builds on the trust’s existing specialist red cell service as well as specialist services at Whittington Hospital, University College London Hospital and the haematology team at the Royal Free Hospital.

NMUH patients requiring urgent care or support should call 07773 735 842 and will be advised accordingly.
