NCL WideRAG clinical prioritisation for all new GP Direct Access imaging referrals
The NCL imaging departments have agreed on a set of standardised imaging prioritisation categories that are to be applied to all future referrals. These must be applied whether that GP is making a referral to the independent sector or NHS service providers.
CT, MRI, non-obstetric ultrasound, fluoroscopy and DEXA services at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) are available by appointment.
For direct access to diagnostics, complete the appropriate form (as detailed below) and send to the team. The imaging admin team will then contact the patient to schedule an appointment.
X-ray walk-in appointments
Opening times for X-ray walk-ins (see Locactions) for GP patients are as follows:
- Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5.30pm
- less busy times for patients are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8.30am-5.30pm.
Request forms should be given to the patient to bring with them when they attend for their X-ray. The form must be filled in correctly, stating which X-ray is required and why the X-ray is required (e.g. appropriate clinical indications). It must be signed with a wet signature, or state the GPs name and GMC number. Request forms continue to have a three-month expiration date. Any request that does not meet all of these criteria will be rejected.
Please do NOT include all of the patient's previous medical history on request forms.
Please inform your patients that they may have to wait to be seen on their arrival if the department is busy.
