Finchley Memorial Hospital CDC: X-ray referral reminder

NCL Wide

It has recently been highlighted that non-medical referrers have been sending patients for X-rays to Finchley Memorial Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) without any evidence of being IR(ME)R trained (Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations).

Any medical professional requesting X-rays, who is not a registered doctor, must have evidence of being IR(ME)R trained in order to request X-rays. As the CDC is part of the Royal Free Hospital Trust, we use their list of non-medical referrers.

Note: any X-ray referrals received by the CDC by those who are not IR(ME)R trained will have their referral returned and will therefore need to be resubmitted by a registered doctor.

You can become registered with the RFH trust to request X-rays by contacting rf-tr.irmerreferrers@nhs.net and attending a training course to become an approved non-medical referrer.

For further guidance and information regarding X-rays at the CDC visit the dedicated web page.
