CT & MRI Imaging: Whittington Hospital
NCL WideProvided By
Computerised tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, including CT colonography and MRI specialist iron overload assessment for thalassaemic and sickle cell patients, are available for GP direct access.
- By appointment only: Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm
Patient results
Results are provided back to the referrer within 14 working days for urgent referrals and within four weeks for routine referrals. GPs will receive an email alerting them if there is a significant finding in an imaging report that requires them to act.

Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- Adults aged 18+
- Children and young people <18
- Ambulant or partially ambulant
- Transport patients
Exclusions
- CT Colonography
- CT Interventional
- Cardiac CT/MRI
- MRI patients with cardiac pacemakers
- MRI breasts
- MRI prostates
- MRI gynaecological (unless recommended post US scan)
- MRI MSK without preliminary imaging (X-ray and/or US)

Or complete the Imaging Referral Form – Whittington
e: whh-tr.ImagingAppointments-WhittHealth@nhs.net or patients can bring the request form to the Imaging Department, on Level 3.
Please note: patients should not contact the department to make an appointment.
When referring a patient who needs hospital transport or who has mobility difficulties, please clearly mark this in the referral. This will help ensure that Imaging sites at WH have the appropriate number of staff during the patient's appointment and while they wait for their transport home.
