Liver Disease Detection (FibroScan): Wood Green CDC
NCL WideProvided By
The Early Liver Disease Community Clinic is a one-stop service located at the Wood Green Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) that offers all necessary diagnostic tests and a consultation in a single appointment, at one convenient location, all on the same day.
- Appointments: Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays, 10am to 4pm
Patients with suspected metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), also known as fatty liver disease, can be referred by their GP. During the appointment, patients will receive a comprehensive liver assessment, including blood tests and a same-day FibroScan—a specialised ultrasound scan that measures liver stiffness.
Subsequently patients will have a nurse-led consultation, which includes a personalised management plan and patient-centred education to help manage MASLD. Early intervention at this clinic aims to prevent the development of significant, chronic liver disease.
All patients should have:
- a Fibrosis-4 Index (FIB-4) score
- an Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) test if indicated.
These should be included on the referral in line with the NCL Fatty Liver Primary Care Clinical Pathway (Pathway for Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Islington).
There is a pilot pathway, in Haringey only, for Liver Disease Early Detection in Adults Primary Care Clinical Pathway
- Abdominal ultrasound within the past three years arranged in primary care.
- Negative liver extended liver screen.
Patient results
A letter will be provided back GP following and the patient following the consultation including details of any management advice given. If required, onward referral to secondary care hepatology services will be made by the member of the clinic team assessing the patient on the day of their appointment.
