CT & MRI Imaging: Royal Free Hospital

Computerised tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans are available for GP direct access if patients meet the criteria.
- CT by appointment only: Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm
- MRI by appointment only: Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm
Patient results
Results are provided back to the referrer within 28 days. If not received enquire by email

Patient transport
When referring a patient who needs hospital transport or who has mobility difficulties, please clearly mark this in the referral. This will help ensure that Royal Free London (RFL) has the appropriate number of staff during the patient's appointment and while they wait for their transport home.
Healthcare professional enquiries
Imaging services provided by RFL are located across a number of trust sites including Royal Free Hospital (Hampstead).
There is a central point of contact for HCP enquiries about imaging.

Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
Patients aged 18+ of all mobility and health conditions can be seen for
- CT abdomen and pelvis with contrast (suspected pancreatic cancer)
- CT KUB (specific referral criteria for patients with renal colic)
- CT head (suspected cancer if MRI is contraindicated)
- MRI for suspected brain cancer
- MRI CNS cancer
- MRI referral from Camden MSK
- MRI head referral from Camden Memory Service
Exclusions
- patients who do not meet the above criteria must be referred to the relevant specialism within the trust.
For MRI
- patients with pacemakers are excluded
