From Monday 9 September 2024, all community deaths will need to be referred to the local Medical Examiner before the death can be registered.

All Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD) will require a medical examiner's assurance to be legally valid.

Please complete the referral form before you log the patient as deceased on EMIS.

For Barnet referrals, where patients live across the borough border, complete the Medical Examiner Community Death Referral - NWL form and send to
