Urgent Suspected Cancer Referrals

NCL Wide

GPs, dentists and optometrists are advised to use the pan-London Urgent Suspected Cancer (formally 2ww) referral forms listed in the How to refer section below.

For details of how to refer for the most common tissue-specific cancers, see the tissue-specific dedicated service pages in the related services list below.

For details of how to refer in the case of non-specific symptoms, see the Urgent Suspected Cancer for Non-Specific Cancer Symptoms: Rapid Diagnostic Centres page.

For breast pain, consider the Breast Pain Clinic at RFL.

Patients who are referred onto a suspected cancer pathway should be diagnosed or have cancer ruled out within 28 days. Please advise patients to prioritise being available for further appointments and investigations within the next 28 days. Consider sharing the NCL Cancer Alliance's Your Cancer Pathway Support Guide, which offers comprehensive support for patients who are referred on a suspected cancer pathway or who have been diagnosed with cancer.

It is important for practices to have a robust safety netting system. For information see the EMIS user guide.
