Daylight: Day Centre for Adults with Learning Disabilities

Islington
Under Review — this page was due to be reviewed by Thursday, 04 July 2024. The information shown here may be outdated.

Daylight reopened in August 2021 with a phased approach to resuming normal day services following Islington Public Health advice.

The service is prioritising people assessed by Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership (ILDP, see Related Services) as having moderate-to-complex high level of needs that cannot be met without day service provision.

Daylight is a day service for adults with varying degrees of learning disabilities. Learning disabilities has to be the primary disability, however a lot of people using Daylight have additional physical needs, with some falling under dual diagnosis.

The service is increasingly outcome focused, and tries to meet the identified needs of an individual so that they can develop new skills and lead as independent a life as possible.

Integrating into the community and using facilities in the community are integral parts of the service at Daylight.

On-site activities include:

  • catering
  • art
  • drama
  • music
  • Boccia
  • gardening
  • massage
  • multi-sensory.

Community access includes:

  • swimming
  • museums
  • galleries
  • bowling
  • hydrotherapy
  • trampolining
  • ice skating.

A referral from Adult Social Care following a Care Act Assessment is required to attend the day centre. Request an assessment using the below link.

There may be a charge to attend the day centre. This is means tested.
