Spectrum: Day Centre for Adults with Autism & Learning Disabilities

Islington
Under Review — this page was due to be reviewed by Saturday, 29 June 2024. The information shown here may be outdated.

Spectrum is operating a three-days per week service, continuing to support users living in family homes. The service offered is a mixture of community and building-based activities, including learning to cycle on main roads safely and dog walking for local community members.

Spectrum is currently designing a more person-centred and targeted service that will reach more autistic adults living in Islington. From April 2023 onwards, Spectrum hopes to provide additional services, including assessments of clients and training for staff, family and community members.

Spectrum provides daytime building and community-based activities for adults with autism and learning disabilities and behaviour that challenges.

The service aims to support individuals to manage their own anxieties and behaviour before starting to explore their specific areas of interest and passion, work on transferrable skills such as cooking and explore possibilities around volunteering and paid employment.

It has been carefully designed to ensure it is specific to the needs of adults with autism. There is a sensory room comprising an interactive dance floor, a soft-play room with a trampoline, and a gymnasium.
