From 1 September 2024, there is a new community provider delivering the neonatal BCG service for babies aged 0-12 months across London.

The provider covering all NCL boroughs is Vaccination UK, GP practices should send BCG referrals for babies under 12 months to: vul.nlbcgreferrals@nhs.net

The eligibility criteria for the neonatal BCG service is as follows:

• all infants (aged 0 to 12 months) with a parent or grandparent who were born in a country where the annual incidence of TB is 40/100,000 or greater 
• all infants (aged 0 to 12 months) living in areas of the UK where the annual incidence of TB is 40/100,000 or greater (Newham is the only universal borough in London)

For children over 12 months old who are eligible and seeking BCG vaccination, GP practices should refer them onto their local ICB BCG service. If a patient over one is referred to the neonatal BCG service, the referral will be decline and the GP will need to re-refer.
