Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit: UCLH
NCL WideOperating at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, the Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) at UCLH provides rapid assessment and early stroke treatment, including clot-busting drugs and clot removal, with continuous monitoring by a multidisciplinary team. This unit also facilitates pre-hospital video triage for stroke cases, ensuring expert evaluation and appropriate hospital destinations.
How to Refer
Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit Specialist Registrar
Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA)
If the patient is not currently symptomatic but high-risk TIA (new AF, on anticoagulation, ABCD² Score for TIA 5 or above, or multiple events) call the hyper-acute stroke unit specialist registrar.
For other TIAs, refer via email to uclh.tianeuroclinic@nhs.net
