This page provides basic information about a service suitable for self referral. Direct patients to the service provider using the details below.
Barnet Mencap provides advice, information and guidance for parents and carers of children and young people 0-18 with additional needs, including:
- help to access disability benefits and make applications
- help to access services and information
- support writing letters and much more.
Services available include:
- parenting programmes and workshops to discuss parenting strategies and meet other parents
- the Open Door Project, which offers information advice and guidance for families of children aged under five with additional needs, as well as family play events during holidays
- the Short Break service Take a Break, which offers one-to-one support either in the child's home or in the community, as well as group activities in the holidays (this is for children who are eligible for Short Breaks funding or can be paid for privately).
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- child residents of Barnet aged 0-18 with a learning disability, autism or ADHD (child doesn't need to have a diagnosis)
- their families
For the Open Door Service:
- families with children aged under five (this service accepts referrals for children with any additional need)
