Nutrition & Dietetics Community Paediatric Service
EnfieldThe Enfield Community Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetics Service aims to optimise the health and wellbeing of children with nutrition-related problems through assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
Primary Care Nutrition and Dietetics Service
The community primary care dietitian provides dietetic assessment and advice for children aged 0-19 with non-complex health needs.
The service offers care packages for a range of clinical conditions, including:
- obesity
- faltering growth/undernutrition
- nutritional deficiencies
- children with severe fussy/faddy eating (see referral criteria for details in Downloads).
Inappropriate referrals include those for:
- patients with continued treatment from acute dietetic services
- patients with Avoidance Restrictive Food Intake Disorder
- classified eating disorders
- diabetic patients requiring insulin
- patients requiring home enteral feeding (refer to the Complex Needs Nutrition and Dietetics Service)
- patients with neuro disabilities such as autism and global developmental delay (refer to the Complex Needs Nutrition and Dietetics Service).
Complex Needs Nutrition and Dietetics Service
The community dietitians see children aged 0-19 with complex needs including neuro-disability, enteral feeding needs, and those with life-limiting conditions.
The service provides advice for the following:
- home enteral feeding
- faltering growth/underweight
- selective/restrictive eating in children with autism
- nutritional deficiencies/nutritional inadequacy
- conditions compromising nutrition/fluid intake (e.g. as a result of a diagnosis/neurodevelopmental disorder, dysphagia. or life limiting condition which may require oral nutritional support)
- children with constipation/gastrointestinal disorders if impacting on oral intake and growth.

Inclusions
- children registered with an Enfield GP and who reside in Enfield.

To refer to the Complex Needs Nutrition and Dietetics Service, complete the Community Health CYP Single Point of Referral – North Mid in the Community form and send to northmid.communitycypspor@nhs.net
To refer a child with complex neuro disabilities complete the Paediatric Dietetic Service For Children With Neuro Disabilities referral – North Mid in the Community form and send to northmid.communitycypspor@nhs.net
To refer a child who requires home enteral feeding, complete the Home Enteral Feeding Referral Enfield – North Mid in the Community form and send to northmid.enfieldchildrenstherapies@nhs.net
