Bariatric Surgery: UCLH
NCL WideProvided By
UCLH Bariatric Centre for Weight Management and Metabolic Surgery offers comprehensive medical and surgical services for the treatment of adults with obesity with the aim of improving health through weight management.
The multi-disciplinary team is comprised of:
- consultant obesity physicians
- consultant bariatric surgeons
- bariatric anaesthetists
- psychologists
- clinical nurse specialists (CNS)
- bariatric dieticians
- exercise therapists
- pathway co-ordinators.
Services include laparoscopic surgery for upper gastrointestinal benign disease (including anti-reflux surgery) and laparoscopic day-case surgery for hernia and chloelithiasis.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- BMI of 40 kg/m2 or more
- BMI between 35-40 kg/m2 and other significant disease (for example, type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure) that could be improved with weight loss
