Responsibilities of the primary care clinician

  1. To prescribe and administer maintenance doses of GnRH analogue injections for patients in line with the written request from secondary care.
  2. To follow advice in the management plan unless there has been discussion and agreement with the specialist team in secondary care (urology/oncology) to modify them.
  3. To reinforce the advice provided by secondary care clinicians.
  4. In the event of any adverse reactions, to refer back to the clinician in secondary care for advice.
  5. To inform the oncology consultant if the patient discontinues treatment for any reason. 
  6. To seek the advice of the oncology consultant if there are any concerns with the patient’s therapy.
  7. To conduct an annual medication review.
