EMIS clinical template
NCL Wide
Under Review — this page was due to be reviewed
by Tuesday, 21 February 2023. The information shown here may be outdated.
The new NCL EMIS clinical template (GnRH: hormone injections for prostate Ca) should be used whenever you are giving a patient a GnRH analogue injection and it will capture all of the information and codes needed to support you and your colleagues to manage these patients and report on the KPIs.
Using this template will eliminate the need for manual reports and provide practices with two call and recall searches to ensure that patients attend their injection appointments when they are due. It is important that patients are given their GnRH analogue injections as close as possible to the date they are due, as a delay may reduce the effectiveness of the hormone treatment.
There are two searches available to assist practices with safety-netting to ensure that patients attend for these injections within the required timescales.
These can be found within the GnRH - hormone injections for prostate Ca folder on EMIS and can be used to identify patients whose injections are overdue and those patients whose injections are due within the next 28 days (and who will require an injection appointment if not already booked).
Please note that patients who are referred to you from secondary care will need to be added to the template when you receive the referral so that they will be identified in future searches.
Camden practices which have not yet activated their Resource Publisher sharing agreement with NCL CCG will need to download it from the Overview of IT Tools page (see Tools for Other Services section).
For more information on the template, please contact your local GP IT support or GP Federation as appropriate.
You can search for the template using the name of the folder (GnRH - Hormone injections for prostate Ca) or by using any of the following search terms:
- Hormone injections
- Prostate cancer injections
- Prostate cancer hormones
- Hormone therapy
- Androgen suppression therapy
- GnRH/GNRH
- LHRH/LH-RH/LHRH analog(ue)/LHRH agonist
- Triptorelin
- Decapeptyl® SR
- Leuprorelin®
- Prostap®
- Goserelin
- Zoladex
To search for the template, go into the patient’s record and click on the Run template icon in the bar at the top. Then in the search bar, type in any of the above search terms and it will bring up the template name Hormone injections for prostate cancer NCL 2022 V2. Important to note: if you type in prostate as a search term, the system will give you two template options: the template called Prostate Cancer Follow Up LCS NCL V1 2021 is a different template for a different LCS so do not choose this one.
To find the searches, choose the EMIS Population Reporting (searches) module / tab called NHS North Central London CCG - Enterprise Search & Reports (in the bottom-left corner of the screen) / folder called NCL CCG GnRH - hormone injections for prostate Ca.
NB. In order to see this tab, you may need to click on the arrows (circled in screenshot below) near the bottom-left corner of the screen, then choose the Show More Buttons option.
