EMISX business continuity provides read-only access of EMIS record if EMIS Web goes down. This includes access to the appointment book and patient clinical record.

How to onboard to EMISX Business Continuity

For smooth onboarding, it is best done when EMIS and Internet is available on your desktop and you have your mobile phone available. You may want to run a Business Continuity drill at your practice to make sure all staff are onboarded.

  • Download MS Authenticator app on your mobile phone (if you do not already have this)
  • Access EMISX BC mode via browser on your desktop (not mobile)
  • Access the QR code from EMISX BC and scan this to your authenticator app
  • When you log into EMISX BC, you will be asked to enter the code from the authenticator app.

Teething problems:
If your password has expired for your EMIS login (when accessing without smartcard), this will need to be updated before you can proceed with the steps above.

What to do when the practice internet is down

You may be able to tether internet (hotspot) from your mobile phone. The process is the same for both desktop and laptop computers.

  • On your mobile phone, turn on Mobile Hotspot
  • Go to the wifi settings on your desktop computer
  • Search for your mobile phone name within the wifi settings on your desktop
  • Enter the wifi password that is given on your mobile phone.
