Tissue Viability Service: CNWL

The Central and North West London (CNWL) Tissue Viability Service (TVS) aims to:
- provide advice and support to healthcare professionals regarding the management of patients with, or at risk of, developing chronic wounds such as pressure ulcers
- provide advice on patients who have developed leg ulcers and other types of wounds that are difficult to heal
- provide advice on the appropriate use of advanced wound care technologies
- reduce and prevent secondary care admissions by early intervention and management of infections.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- Camden residents aged 18+ who have a Camden GP
- wounds that show no signs of healing, are slow to heal or deteriorating
- all wounds that have not responded to appropriate treatment after four weeks, where the expected/planned outcome is healing
- management for fungating wounds
- all category 3 pressure ulcers and above, including unstageable and DTIs
- patients in compression bandaging or hosiery which cannot be tolerated by the patient
- other advanced wound therapies (e.g. topical negative pressure wound therapy, larvae)
- advice regarding pressure-relieving equipment and management to prevent pressure ulcer development.
