Shape Up: Men's Weight Management by Arsenal in the Community
CamdenIslingtonProvided By
Shape Up is a 12-week programme to support men who are overweight or obese to improve their nutrition, increase their physical activity, and reach a healthier weight through food education and enjoyable exercise.
Shape Up participants will have access to weekly evening sessions of 90 minutes that include body composition monitoring, nutrition education and lifestyle behaviour change, and physical activity and reduction of sedentary behaviour.
Additionally, participants will have access to a remote support network and 12 months of support and monitoring after the 12-week intervention.
Courses in Camden and Islington
Shape Up courses have three starting points each year - January, April and September. At each starting point, there will be at least one course taking place in Camden and one in Islington.

The Shape Up team also offers the following services (see Resources for more information):
- strength and balance chair-based exercises for over-55s
- walking football for over-40s
- walking football and support group for men with prostate cancer
- walking football and support group for men with Parkinson's disease
- beginner friendly exercise classes

Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- men aged 18-65 (65-70's will be considered dependent on mobility)
- BMI of 27.5 or above
- lives in, or is registered with a GP in Camden or Islington
- have expressed a willingness or motivation to change.
Exclusions
- individuals who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder.
