Podiatry Acute Service: WH
HaringeyIslingtonThe Whittington Health (WH) acute podiatry service provides wound care for patients with foot ulcerations that require MDT input. Care is provided within a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic based at Whittington Hospital.
Patients who do not require multi-disciplinary care for podiatry wounds should be referred via the Podiatry Community Service: WH.
Refer to the Diabetic Foot Assessment and Referral Pathway to aid referral making when considering community versus outpatient MDT care.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- active ulcer requiring MDT care
- vascular complications that need further assessment in our joint vascular clinic
- suspected osteomyelitis
- deteriorating wounds
- chronic and recurrent infections
- suspected Charcot.
Exclusions
- For severe infection, risk of sepsis and critical ischaemia, escalate the patient immediately to the Royal Free Hospital (RFH) Hot Clinic.

Complete the GP Podiatry Referral Form - Whittington and sent to the Whittington Podiatry service: mdtpodiatry.whitthealth@nhs.net. Referral forms should be marked urgent.
