Islington Additional Needs and Disability Service

The Islington Additional Needs and Disability Service (IANDS) supports children and young people with additional needs and disabilities to reach their full potential. This can mean being active in their community, developing friendships and enjoying an ordinary life the same way as other children. The service also provide parents with appropriate information, support and advice for them and their family.
IANDS includes the following teams:
- Early Years Therapies
- Social Communication Team
- Mainstream Schools Therapies Team
- Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Team (including the Advanced Paediatric MSK Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service)
- Special Schools Health and Therapy Team
- Paediatric Dietetic Service
- Community Paediatrics.
The teams are made up of various healthcare professionals, including:
- speech and language therapists
- occupational therapists
- physiotherapists
- clinical psychologists
- paediatricians
- specialist nurses
- family counselling
- therapy assistants
- healthcare assistants
- specialist key workers.
They work in partnership with Islington local authorities across various locations, including health centres, schools, nurseries, children's centres and Whittington Hospital.

Inclusions
- aged under 18 and registered with an Islington GP.

Please note: Consent for referral is mandatory. Referrers other than GPs should send a copy of the referral to the child’s GP and keep a copy for their records.
This referral form has the options for GPs to tick for Physiotherapy or Advanced Paediatric MSK Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service. It also contains useful information on variants of normal limb development.
