Families in Focus (FIF) is one of Camden's Early Help Teams. The service provides practical and emotional support to families in Camden with children aged 4-16.

It aims to build helpful relationships to create the conditions for change, empowering parents to make a change in their families and in their community and for families to leave us stronger than when they found us.

FIF provides 1:1 casework with families, supporting them for 6-18 months where families have the support of an allocated Family Worker.

It also offers a range of parenting programmes, including:

  • Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (SFSC)
  • Strengthening Families Programme
  • Webster Stratton Incredible Years and Caring Dads
  • Triple P Online which parents access independently alongside coaching support from an allocated family worker
  • Triple P Online for parents of children aged 4-12
  • Triple P Online for parents of teenagers.

Each programme teaches strategies for improving relationships, developing boundaries and consequences in the home, and managing challenging behaviour (including conduct disorders).

In addition to the above, FIF also offers the following:

  • Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) programme, where in group sessions, parents are supported to plan taking concrete actions against the behaviors that challenge, using NVR strategies
  • Video Interaction Guidance (VIG), which is a video feedback intervention where a Family Worker helps a parent to enhance their communication within their parent-child relationship.

FIF also runs the Parents Forum, a space for parents to meet and offer peer support to each other. This space is peer-led but facilitated by the Parent Wellbeing Service and FIF jointly.

Please contact the service to discuss any of the above programmes or support.
