The Community Respiratory Service in Enfield incorporates respiratory nurse and physiotherapy management, home oxygen and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Enfield Home Oxygen Service and Review provides a comprehensive assessment and reviews for patients with long-term respiratory disease referred for consideration or management of ambulatory and/or long-term oxygen therapy.

Patients are seen in the clinic or at home according to their needs. 


Eligibility Criteria

Inclusions

Long-Term Oxygen Therapy

  • Patient has oxygen saturations of less than 92% on air at rest - when stable (pharmacologically optimised, no exacerbation in the past six weeks)
  • If blood gases available: PaO2 of less than 7.3kPa or between 7.3 kPa and 8kPa with any of the following secondary conditions: polycythaemia, nocturnal hypoxaemia (SaO2 less than 90% more than 30% of the time) peripheral oedema or pulmonary hypertension.

Ambulatory Oxygen Assessment

  • Patient has oxygen saturations of 89% or less on exertion when well (pharmacologically optimised, no exacerbation in the past six weeks)

Exclusions

  • Patients who are current smokers
  • Palliative oxygen should be considered as per NCL guideline

Complete the Adult Services Single Point of Access Referral form - Enfield Community Services and send to the following centralised ECS address: rf-tr.ecsadultsinglepointofaccess@nhs.net

Once the referral has been received, it will be screened by non-clinical administrators with no changes to clinical response times.
