Bladder & Bowel Continence Service: NMUH

Enfield

The Bladder & Bowel Continence Service is delivered by a specialist team of nurses advising on the management of bladder and bowel dysfunction for people living in Enfield. It is available at home or in a clinic setting.

They offer:

  • one-to-one assessments, diagnosis and management
  • bladder ultrasound scans to check how your bladder is working
  • referral to other professionals where required
  • assessment for provision of aids or continence products 
  • education to help manage continence issues for you or someone you care for
  • ongoing training and support for staff

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusions

  • residents of Enfield aged 18+ with an Enfield GP who have a continence condition such as:
    • overactive bladder (including urgency with urge incontinence)
    • symptoms related to function
    • stress incontinence
    • neurological bladder and bowel incontinence
    • nocturia
    • frequency, constipation and pelvic organ prolapse
    • nocturnal enuresis
    • constipation pelvic organ prolapse
    • overactive bladder
    • functional, stress and/or urge incontinence

Exclusions

  • children under 18
  • routine indwelling catheterisation/catheter-related problems

Referrals are via the ECS SPA form and should include a full medical history and current medication. 

The Adult Services Single Point of Access Referral form - Enfield Community Services form should be sent to the following centralised ECS address: northmid-tr.ecsadultsinglepointofaccess@nhs.net

Where to find the form

Once the referral has been received, it will be screened by non-clinical administrators with no changes to clinical response times.

Self-referral

Patients can self-refer via the above email.

Clinics are based here between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday
