Resources available to support pulmonary rehabilitation patient uptake

NCL Wide

The NCL pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) teams and wider NCL respiratory network have developed two new information leaflets, which are now available on the GP website for each individual PR service in NCL.

The FAQs leaflet is a short, practical co-developed document for both clinicians and patients. It has been developed in response to feedback from clinicians (wanting to better know how to respond to questions patients raise in consultations), as well as for patients who want to better understand what to expect from a PR programme. It is hoped that by addressing concerns that patients may have, they will feel more confident and likely to take the first step into PR.

The PR teams encourage practices to share the FAQs leaflet is shared with patients, either on its own or ideally alongside service-specific information.

PR is primarily delivered in a group setting, however, individual needs, risks, and reasonable adjustments will be considered wherever possible to support safe, inclusive participation and maximise benefit for each patient. The guidelines for referring to PR will ensure relevant information is considered and shared.

The PR teams welcome any feedback on the new resources and are keen to work alongside primary care colleagues to improve patient uptake.
