The Royal Free London's head and neck service is experiencing an increase in the number of two-week-wait (2WW) referrals.

In most cases, patients are still assessed and discharged on the same day. GPs are encouraged to submit an advice and guidance request before making a referral if they are unsure.

The pan-London 2WW referral criteria for suspected head and neck cancers have been updated, and unilateral tinnitus is no longer considered a referral symptom for head and neck. GPs are asked to follow this guidance when making 2WW referrals.
