The Cancer Practice Recognition Award is designed to help practices:
- use existing NCL Cancer Alliance (CA) resources
- align with quality improvement priorities
- support staff development in delivering high-quality cancer care.
This page provides a framework and practical guidance for GP practices participating in the NCL Cancer Bronze Recognition Award.
It outlines the key strategic themes: engagement, performance, patient experience and education; and sets out the specific actions and expectations for achieving the bronze level award.

Practices should consider other cancer focussed Quality Improvement that support cancer care. Funding can be used to support delivery of projects.

How to join the NCL Cancer Practice Recognition Award
NCL Cancer Alliance is inviting practices to join the pilot of the NCL Cancer Recognition Award (Bronze level), celebrating excellence in primary care cancer services.
25 plus practices (4–6 per borough) will take part with access to tailored support, tools and resources.
Practices will be able to access a share of a £50,000 grant fund to enable participation in this in this work. Depending on demand funding will be between £1,000-2,000 per practice.
Expressions of Interest will be accepted from now until Thursday 7 August. Practices will be selected in August and the scheme will formally commence from September 2025-February 2026.
