If a patient has had or is concerned about a possible exposure to HIV and the exposure was within the last 72 hours, refer the patient to:

  • a sexual health clinic, if the patient can be seen within the 72 hour timeframe
  • A&E for immediate assessment

If the patient meets the criteria, PEP will be provided.
