Finchley Memorial Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre Spotlight

NCL Wide

This short video has been produced to show how the new fixed MRI scanner was crane lifted into the Finchley Memorial Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre (FMH CDC) and then installed.

The video also describes the services being delivered at the FMH CDC, which opened August 2021. The FMH CDC is supporting efforts to clear the backlog of people waiting for diagnostic tests at acute trusts.

Diagnostic services currently available include MRI and CT scans (within a mobile unit), non-obstetric ultrasound scans, blood tests, ophthalmology and other cardiology, respiratory and microvascular tests. By the end of 2022-23, these will be expanded to include X-rays and additional respiratory services (e.g. sleep studies and other tests). Over 2023-24, there will be further expansion of services to include a second permanent MRI scanner, a mobile MRI scanner and a permanent CT scanner.
