Catheter Clinic: CNWL

A clinic to meet the needs of ambulant patients who have catheters and require planned non-urgent catheter changes.

Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- adults aged 18 and over
- ambulant patients who are able to mobilise independently on to a clinical couch
- blocked urinary catheters
- catheter bag changes
- routine uncomplicated urinary catheter changes (Male, Female and Suprapubic)
- uncomplicated Trial Without Catheter (TWOC)
Exclusions
- those with known damage to the urethra, including reconstructive surgery or recent pelvic radiotherapy
- history of difficult catheterisations or previous stricture
- acute prostatitis
- patients with known complications on catheterisation e.g. frank/gross/macroscopic haematuria
- acute retention or first-time urinary catheterisations
