Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Service: UCLH

The Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Service provides a structured programme to support patients' recovery after a heart attack, surgery or other cardiovascular conditions. This consists of exercise, education and behaviour change to improve physical health, reduce the risk of further cardiac problems and improve overall wellbeing.
The core components of cardiovascular health and rehabilitation are:
- lifestyle risk factor management
- health behaviour change and education
- medical risk management
- psychological health
- long term strategies
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- myocardial infarction
- percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
- coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG)
- valve repair/replacement
- implantation of cardiac defibrillator (ICD) or permanent pacemaker
- heart failure
- stable angina
- cardi-oncology
- peripheral vascular disease
- other cardiac surgery
The team is happy to discuss referrals if you are unsure.
Exclusions
- unstable angina
- advanced heart failure
- high blood pressure (resting SBP > 200mmHg or DBP > 110mmHg)
- left ventricular outflow tract obstruction
- grade 2 and 3 AV block
- myocarditis
- active pericarditis
- severe valvular disease
- uncontrolled arrhythmias
- aortic dissection
- acute thrombophlebitis
- pulmonary or systemic embolism
