Gynaecology Community Service

Barnet

The Barnet Community Gynaecology service has been commissioned by NCL ICB and NHS Barnet to look after the gynaecological needs of all patients registered with Barnet GP Practices.

A team of local Consultant Gynaecologists is working with General Practitioners with a special interest in Gynaecology (GPSIs) to provide this service. The aims are to ensure that patients will be seen by the right person in the right place first time for the management of your gynaecological problem, and to provide an excellent community based gynaecology service.

The service accepts routine and urgent (non Two-Week Waits (2WW)) Gynaecology referrals for patients aged 16+ who are registered with a Barnet GP Practices. All referrals are triaged, and patients are contacted to book their appointment as appropriate. 

The service manages the following conditions:

  • Abnormal bleeding/menstrual disorders – Heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular bleeding, post-coital bleeding, amenorrhoea, postmenopausal bleeding
  • pelvic pain
  • urogynaecology/prolapse
  • infertility/recurrent miscarriage
  • vulval conditions
  • difficult coil fits/removals
  • menopause
  • polycystic ovary syndrome
  • vaginal discharge
  • premature ovarian failure
  • female sterilisation
  • fibroids

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusions

  • aged 16+ 
  • registered with Barnet GP 

Exclusions

  • 2WW Referrals
