X-ray & Fluoroscopy Imaging: North Middlesex University Hospital

The imaging service at North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) offers walk-in X-rays for GP direct access.

  • Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9am-6pm

The imaging service at NMUH offers GP direct access referrals for fluoroscopy for barium swallows and barium meals 

  • By appointment only: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am-5pm

Patient results

X-ray results are provided back to the referrer and GP within seven to 10 working days (maximum 28 days). 

Fluoroscopy results turnaround may depend on the urgency of the request. The expected time is within 28 days.

Patient transport

When referring a patient who needs hospital transport or who has mobility difficulties, please clearly mark this in the referral. This will help ensure that NMUH (Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust)  has the appropriate number of staff during the patient's appointment and while they wait for their transport home.

How to Refer

EMIS form

Referral methods: Email, Hand to Patient

Complete the Imaging Request Form – NMUH form
Patients can bring in a paper referral form, alternatively the form can be emailed to northmid.radiology@nhs.net

Please note: To avoid delay complete all necessary information including a signature/GMC and date on the form. Failure to do this may cause delays to patient imaging.  

Non-medical referrers need to be approved by the trust before requesting examinations involving ionising and non-ionising radiation.

Patients must attend for X-ray within 90 days of receipt of the referral form.

For emailed requests please remind patients that they will NOT receive an appointment for their X-ray.
