Update: Targeted Lung Health Checks renamed Lung Cancer Screening

NCL Wide

From Tuesday 1 April, the NHS targeted Lung Health Checks will be called Lung Cancer Screening. While the programme remains the same, the name change follows research indicating that a clearer, more precise name encourages higher participation rates, as it better communicates the programme’s purpose. The new name aims to improve understanding among former and current smokers, encouraging them to take part for early detection of lung cancer.

The rebranding also coincides with lung cancer screening being included as one of the UK’s national cancer screening programmes alongside bowel, breast, and cervical screenings.

For information about local lung cancer screening visit the NCL Cancer Alliance website.
