Reduce returned referrals to community podiatry service

HaringeyIslington

The community podiatry service in Haringey and Islington has recently seen an increase in referrals that do not include enough detail to safely triage the patient, identify the level of risk and confirm that they meet the service criteria. As a result, these referrals are being rejected, which means more work for practices to re-refer the patient.

To help the service triage referrals effectively and quickly, please provide as much detail as possible including:

  • duration of symptoms
  • nature of symptoms
  • progression
  • relevant medical history
  • impact on daily life
  • previous investigations or interventions
  • what specific help or assessment is being sought.

Referrals will be rejected without relevant information.

The community podiatry service acceptance criteria are available on the service page.
