Maternity referral changes taking place at Homerton Hospital

NCL Wide

West and North London Integrated Care Board (WNL ICB) has recently received a letter from the chief executives of North East London ICB and Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, informing of changes to maternity referrals at Homerton Hospital.

The Homerton maternity unit will not accept new pregnancy bookings for anyone living outside the trust catchment area of City and Hackney and South Waltham Forest. This means that pregnant women and people living in NCL who are registered with an NCL GP practice will no longer be able to book into Homerton Hospital. This change took effect from Tuesday 17 February and will last for an initial period of three months. It is designed to help manage demand and maintain safe, high-quality care.

Homerton Hospital will continue to accept maternity referrals from outside the catchment area, where there is a clinical need for complex pregnancy or neonatal care.

Information on available maternity services within NCL, along with how to refer and self-refer into these services, can be found below.
