Understanding and Diagnosing Autonomic Dysfunction

The session will offer critical insights into autonomic dysfunction, beginning with the fundamentals of a thorough clinical history that assesses the cardiovascular, genito-urinary, pupillary, secretomotor, gastrointestinal, and sudomotor systems.

Understanding how these domains interact is crucial for accurately diagnosing and managing these often-overlooked conditions. You will also learn how to evaluate each autonomous domain and identify key symptoms, as well as recognise patterns that point to specific disorders.

The webinar will explore some of the most prevalent autonomic dysfunctions, including intermittent issues such as:

  • vasovagal syncope and postural tachycardia
  • autonomic challenges associated with long COVID and autonomic failure linked to neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Parkinson’s Disease)
  • peripheral neuropathies (e.g. diabetic neuropathy)
  • and autoimmune conditions.
