The Wound Care Management Locally Commissioned Service (LCS) is aimed at adults who need simple wound management. It is intended to drive improvements in the way in which primary care delivers wound management services for patients. It should foster continued quality improvement and will expect providers to deliver clear and formal accountability processes and structures to ensure a safe, effective and integrated continuity of clinical care for all patients.

Evidence suggests that a number of wound dressing cases appear in various settings such as A&E departments and urgent treatment centres (UTCs) which can be seen more locally, in a clinically safe and more cost-effective environment such as general practice.
