Upper Limb Rehabilitation: UCLH
CamdenThe National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery offers a multidisciplinary service with expertise in assessing and treating neurological upper limb problems.
The service:
- offers advice on the management of patients with neurological upper limb deficits secondary to central nervous system disease
- can see stroke survivors who might benefit from more intense treatment of upper limb deficits, especially early after stroke.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- aged 16+
- confirmed stroke or other central nervous system diagnosis.
How to Refer
Letter
Referral methods: e-RS
Send a referral letter via the e-Referral system using the following steps:
- speciality: Rehabilitation
- service: Multi-disciplinary Neuro-rehabilitation for the Upper Limb Clinic – NHNN – Queen Square – RRV
- clinic type: Neuro-rehabilitation
A summary of previous rehabilitation input is requested, and the referral should include the following information:
- type of stroke or other injury
- extent of previous rehabilitation
- level of independence and self care
- ability to use affected hand in daily activities
- extent of finger movement (especially extension)
- is the immediate problem spasticity/joint range management? Please think about managing locally before referring
- is the immediate problem painful restriction of shoulder range? Please think about managing locally before referring
Referrals with insufficient clinical information will be returned.
