The Havens: Sexual Assault Referral Centre
NCL WideSpecialist sexual assault referral centres (SARC) for patients who have been raped or sexually assaulted in the past 12 months.
Three centres cover London:
- Haven Camberwell, near to King's College Hospital (south)
- Haven Whitechapel, near to Royal London Hospital (east)
- Haven Paddington, near to St Charles Health and Wellbeing Centre (west)
The centres provide:
- initial assessments
- forensic medical examinations
- follow-up care that includes counselling, tests and treatment
- interpreters, including those for British Sign Language
The centre will tell you whether to advise your patient to go immediately to The Havens for medical care and/or a forensic medical examination, or to visit the centre at a later date for aftercare.
If the patient needs to be seen urgently, the centre will aim to see them within 90 minutes of making the appointment.
In most circumstances, the centre will speak directly to the person being referred before making the appointment.

Eligibility Criteria
Inclusions
- survivors of rape or sexual assault in the past 12 months, regardless of
- age
- ethnicity
- gender
- religion
- sexual orientation or
- profession
Exclusions
- people who were raped more than 12 months ago
How to Refer
For rapes/assaults within the past seven days (24/7)
The centre will tell you whether to advise your patient to go immediately to the Havens for medical care and/or a forensic medical examination, or to visit the centre at a later date for aftercare.
If patient needs to be seen urgently, the centre will aim to see them within 90 minutes of making the appointment.
In most circumstances, the centre will speak directly to the person being referred before making the appointment.
Non-urgent referrals or to discuss a potential or current referral
Monday to Friday (not public/bank holidays), 9am-5pm.
Self-referral
The Havens take self-referrals, but patients must first call 020 3299 6900 (urgent advice and referrals, open 24/7). An interpreter (including for BSL) can be arranged if needed.

For general enquiries and queries about follow-up and aftercare appointments including counselling.
