Paediatric Asthma Community Nurse

The Paediatric Asthma Community Nurse supports children and young people aged 5-17 with an asthma diagnosis through consultations that provide asthma education and support. Patients have access to face-to-face meetings in schools and clinics, as well as telephone and video reviews. The nurse also leads high-risk asthma clinics for patients with poorly controlled asthma. Eligibility Criteria

Inclusions

  • be aged five to 17
  • have a diagnosis of asthma
  • have a Haringey GP
  • two or more ED, UCC and hospital admissions
  • poorly controlled asthma affecting school attendance/ participation in school activities
  • prescribed two or more courses of oral steroids in the last 12 months
  • prescribed more than six salbutamol inhalers in the last 12 months

Exclusions

  • under the age of five
  • CYP without asthma diagnosis
  • request for Inhaler technique (only)
  • CYP with viral induced wheeze
  • annual asthma reviews
  • post attack reviews
