WH phlebotomy update: Parathyroid hormone sample type and HbA1C requirement changes

NCL Wide

Whittington Health (WH) will be making two changes to its lab processes in the new year.

From Monday 12 January, the WH laboratory is changing the required sample type for Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) measurement from serum (gold top tube) to EDTA plasma (lavender top tube).

In addition to this, it is now able to process both a Full Blood Count (FBC) and the HbA1C on the same tube, with effect from 15 December.

Please read the attached memo for more information and a summary of the changes
