Update: Urgent suspected cancer referrals following non-specific symptoms

NCL Wide

A new non-specific symptoms (NSS) urgent suspected cancer referral form will soon be available in NCL. The form should be more usable both for GPs making referrals and secondary-care clinicians triaging patients for investigations post-referral. Existing guidance around making the referral itself remains unchanged.

The below guidance applies both now and when the new form is available.

  • Where possible, please ensure all relevant information is included on the referral form itself.
  • Avoid attaching clinical summary documents. The referral should ideally be no more than five pages.
  • Include a detailed narrative on the form based on your consultation. Avoid reproduction of consultations.
