Type 2 Diabetes in the Young: Training and access to advice still available

NCL Wide

The T2DAY (Type 2 Diabetes in the Young) project, which focuses on patients with Type 2 diabetes aged between 18 and 40, aims to provide primary care staff with training and access to multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) including a diabetes consultant.

On completion of the online, recorded training, clinicians need to complete a short survey to qualify for payment.

The project was commissioned at primary care network (PCN) level. PCNs have been allocated funding to distribute among their practices and each PCN has now received the first payment, which includes the training funding.

Online MDTs including a diabetes consultant are also available for certain PCNs/practices. These 2-hour sessions are being offered based on the highest numbers of patients in the cohort and there are a few sessions remaining for Q4.

The T2DAY MDTs and training will run until 31 March 2026. The payment rate per MDT held is £300 and the payment rate for each clinician trained is £100.

Please note: there is no cap on the numbers of clinicians to be trained, and all are welcome to attend, however training beyond the funded allocation will not be reimbursed. If funded training places are not taken up by the end of the financial year there is a possibility some funding could be clawed back.
