Resettlement Hubs: Supporting refugees and asylum seekers

Haringey

The Haringey Resettlement Team runs weekly Welcome Hubs to provide tailored support for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants living in the borough to help them settle into the community.

The resettlement team are keen for GPs and social prescribers to be aware of these services so patients in need can be referred and supported early.

The hubs operate as drop-in sessions with no appointment needed, taking place every:

  • Tuesday 1.30-4.30pm at The Community Hub, 8 Caxton Road, N22 6TB
  • Thursday 10am-1pm at St Ann’s Library, Cissbury Road, N15 5PU.

Through the Resettlement Hubs, the team can support individuals and families with a wide range of needs, including:

  • Education; support with registering children in school and accessing ESOL classes.
  • Advocacy; liaising with statutory services on behalf of clients.
  • Financial support; applications to the Haringey Youth Support Fund and Household Support Fund.
  • Immigration; advice and liaison with the Home Office.
  • Housing; assistance with temporary accommodation, private rented housing, and access to grants (including first month’s rent and deposits for refugees with new status).
  • Benefit; support with Universal Credit and disability benefit applications.
  • Community Integration; access to workshops and events designed for asylum seekers and refugees.
