Public consultation launched on proposals to relocate Mount Vernon Cancer Centre

NCL Wide

NHS England has launched a public consultation on proposals to relocate the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) to a new, purpose-built facility beside Watford General Hospital, with University College London Hospital identified as the preferred provider.

MVCC provides non-surgical specialised cancer care, such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, to patients across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, north west London, north central London, and parts of Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

The centre is at risk of being unable to continue providing specialist treatment without significant changes, including moving services to an acute hospital site.

The proposed move aims to secure the long-term future of specialist cancer services by moving them to an acute hospital site, improving patient outcomes, enhancing research opportunities, and making treatment easier to access. NHS England is inviting patients, staff, stakeholders and the wider public to share their views on the plans.

You can find out more and complete a questionnaire on the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre website.

The consultation will end on Sunday 29 March.

Expiry date: Sunday, 29 March 2026
